Vocational / Christmas

Vocational Service

- Development and distribution of career guidance booklet to all schools

- Delivery of career guidance talks by Rotarian club members to secondary school students prior to graduation

- Vocational service awards to 3 top technical students each year at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) Photos

- 100 Bookcases for schools Photos

 

Christmas Programme

- Donations of food and household supplies to homes for the elderly across the island Photos

Current Service Projects

Extension to Maternity Wing

Our club is in the final stages of completing an extension to the Maternity wing at St. Jude's Hospital in Vieux Fort which will significantly increase the capacity of the hospital to service the needs of expectant mothers.

This project is being executed in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Saint Lucia Sout, the Rotary Club of Gros Islet and a number of Rotary Clubs in East Bremerton. Photos

Other Service Projects

Anti Drug Youth Camp
Every year our club hosts approximately 100 young people in a camp environment over the Easter Weekend where they learn about how to avoid illegal drugs, HIV Aids and other societal ills. There are workshops, lectures, sports, interactive sessions and Rotarians, Rotaractors, Junior Pride and professional facilitators contribute to the event.

Wheelchairs for the Needy
Over 280 wheelchairs were distributed to the elderly, injured and physically challenged persons island wide. This was executed in collaboration with the International Wheelchair Foundation and a second phase of this project is upcoming in 2005.

Doctors in Action Free Clinic

Donation of 6000+ Textbooks to Ministry of Education
In collaboration with an international Rotary Club we were able to donate over 6000 schoolbooks for children at different levels of the education system to the Ministry of Education for distribution to all schools.

Bequai Student Exchange for Physically Challenged
Every year our club cooperates with the Rotary club in Bequai to facilitate a student exchange between the Donnotar school here and a school for the physically channeled in Bequai. The students get the opportunity to travel by airplane to a foreign country and to enjoy the warmth and love of regional friends.

Financial contribution of EC $2,000 towards and upcoming Anti-Drug Workshop.

A.B.L.E
Financial support for members of the blind welfare association to attend workshop in Trinidad & Tobago..

 

 

General Projects

School Feeding
Every other week Rotarians make personal cash contributions which go toward providing lunch for needy children at the La Croix Maingot School

Mobile Blood Banks
Our club contributed substantially to the donation of 2 Mobile blood bank units to Victoria Hospital and one twin cab pickup to assist in blood collection.

Mammography Machine
Our club donated a mammography machine to Victoria Hospital.

Arthritis and Lupus Association
A computer system was donated to this association to assist them in their administration.

LUSAVE
For many years our club has supported education and related needs of needy children through the Saint Lucia save the children fund (LUSAVE).

SMC Language Lab
Our club assisted a past student of St. Mary's College in collaboration with the Rotary club at the United Nations to donate computers, reference material and other equipment to the Saint Mary's College Language Lab. Photos
